I'm most proud of...
Professionally, it has to be helping grow a new business like KPMG High Growth Ventures from the very early stages within KPMG. We’ve been running our own startup so to speak, and it's been a rollercoaster ride, but an incredibly valuable and rewarding experience.
The most valuable lesson I've learned was...
Technical knowledge and know-how are not your most important traits.
Being fortunate enough to work across many different teams and go on many secondments, I’ve been dropped into teams of all shapes and sizes.
Facing so many different working environments, team styles, personalities, and so forth, I learned that being adaptable, collaborative and able to flex your style of working to other people is critical in achieving the best outcome and can be an often overlooked skillset.
In the startup ecosystem, I'm most passionate about...
Diversity in the founder journey. You can be an engineering, marketing, software or finance founder – you’re not limited by what you’ve done, as building a successful company encompasses all facets.
Anyone can be a founder and with the right idea, passion, resilience and team, can grow a successful business. I love hearing about a founder’s journey and what drove them to do what they do - the classic tale of people simply solving real-world problems.
I believe the most important thing for founders in today's environment is...
Adaptability. The pace of change is increasing at an exponential rate, even more so in startup land! If you can learn to continually change and grow, you’ll always be able to flex and meet any challenge that comes your way. Moreover, adaptability opens you up to learning and growth opportunities.
My words to live by
We’re all stories in the end, so make it a good one. It’s even tattooed on me!
"I love seeing and learning about the success of founders from diverse walks of life. Anyone can be a founder and with the right idea, passion, resilience and team can grow a successful business. "
